ABOUT EAST HEMPFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
COMMITTED TO EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Fort Allen Elementary was completely renovated in 2000 - 2001. Up graded
school facilities include an enlarged library with internet access and
computerized library catalogue, a 36 station computer lab, full size gym
with a stage, well equipped art and music rooms, remolded cafeteria, a
spacious nurse's suite, conference room, and modern office space as well as
27 full size classrooms and and a number of smaller rooms for specialized
instruction. The building has complete climate control. Outside are
two
large playgrounds as well as athletic fields.

BUILDING A
FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE
- Average class size in
grades K – 3 is 21, and in grades 4 – 5 is 23
- Three Full day Kindergartens
as well as 1 half day session, 5 first grades, 4 second grades, 4 third grades,
5 fourth grades, and
4 fifth grade classrooms.
- Curriculum provides
for 40-minute lessons in the itinerant services of art, library, music,
physical education, and technology
in grades Kindergarten through fifth. Half-day Kindergarten students receive 20 minutes of
the same special area subjects.

OUR MISSION
Our mission at Fort Allen Elementary is to educate every child to be an academically successful
student, a socially responsible citizen, and a life-long learner.
By teaching the necessary knowledge and skills, and the appreciation of
socio-economic and cultural diversity within a school that fosters mutual
respect, creativity, and the joy of learning we are "Committed to
Educational Excellence." In addition, the effective, caring, innovative
staff in partnership with home and community provide our students with a
safe, secure and supportive environment necessary to help meet the needs of
all our students.

ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS
- Parent Teacher
Organization (PTO)
We are
fortunate to have a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), which takes a very
active part in supporting school programs and provides many items, events
and services to enrich our students' school experiences.
- Partners in
Education (P.I.E.)
Our successful parent volunteer program, Partners In Education (P.I.E.),
offers parents the opportunity to be more actively involved in their
child's education.
- Scouting
Opportunities
Boys and
girls at Fort Allen Elementary can choose from several scouting groups some
of whom use our building for their meetings and activities.
- Additional Programs
The YMCA
offers morning childcare from 7:00 – 8:30 AM and afternoon childcare from
3:30 –
6:00 PM in the Fort Allen Elementary building. Please call 724.834.0150 for

- Hempfield Parks and
Recreation
Hempfield Parks and Recreation offer a wide range of evening activities

DIRECTIONS
Fort Allen Elementary School is located off Baltzer Meyer Pike, which can be
accessed from Route 136, just southwest of Greensburg.
